Frequently Asked Questions

How does the blocking work?

HabitBlocker uses Apple's Family Controls framework to block apps and websites you select. Unlike Screen Time limits, there is no "Ignore Limit" button — your apps stay blocked until you complete your habits.

How do I earn screen time?

Each habit you complete earns a configurable number of screen time minutes. Once earned, your blocked apps are unlocked for that duration. Complete all habits to unlock for the rest of the day.

What are the three habit types?

Tap habits are marked done with a single tap. Timer habits require you to complete a timed activity (e.g., 10 minutes of reading). Counter habits track quantities (e.g., glasses of water or pages read).

Where is my data stored?

All your data is stored on your device. If you have iCloud enabled, it syncs across your Apple devices automatically. No data is sent to external servers.

What is Holiday Mode?

Holiday Mode temporarily disables all app blocking so you can enjoy your time off without restrictions. Toggle it on in Settings and your habits will resume when you turn it off.

Can I set habits for specific days?

Yes — each habit can be scheduled for specific days of the week. For example, you can set your exercise habit for Mon/Wed/Fri only.
