Privacy Policy

Overview

HabitBlocker is designed with your privacy as a priority. We do not operate servers that collect your habit or Screen Time data. Information stays on your device or, when iCloud is available, in your private iCloud account.

Information Stored by the App

Your habits, completion history, streaks, and related progress are stored on your device using Apple's SwiftData framework. When iCloud is available for HabitBlocker, this history may sync between your devices through Apple's private CloudKit service. App selections, blocking settings, preferences, and active unlock information are stored in the app's local shared container so HabitBlocker's extensions can perform their functions.

HabitBlocker does not have access to your iCloud account or synced records.

Screen Time Access

HabitBlocker uses Apple's Screen Time API, including the Family Controls and Managed Settings frameworks, to apply and remove shields based on your habit completion. Apple represents the apps, categories, and websites you select with privacy-preserving opaque tokens. Those selections are used only to provide HabitBlocker's blocking features. We cannot identify which specific apps or websites you selected.

You can revoke HabitBlocker's Screen Time authorisation in your device settings. Revoking access disables the app-blocking features and invalidates the selection tokens supplied by Apple.

Data Collection

HabitBlocker does not send personal data to developer-operated servers. Specifically:

• No analytics, advertising, crash-reporting, or tracking SDKs are used.
• No account creation is required.
• No advertising frameworks are included.
• We do not build user profiles or sell personal information.

Notifications

If you enable notifications, HabitBlocker may remind you about habits, timers, expiring unlock time, streaks, and weekly progress. These notifications are scheduled locally on your device. No notification content or token is sent to our servers. You can disable notifications at any time in HabitBlocker's settings or your device settings.

Widgets & Live Activities

HabitBlocker's widgets and Live Activities may display habit progress and unlock information. The app and its extensions access the information they need through a local App Group container. This does not send the information to us.

Sharing

HabitBlocker can generate progress images for you to share. Nothing is shared automatically. A progress image leaves the app only when you choose a destination using Apple's system share sheet, and the destination you select is responsible for its own privacy practices.

Apple Services

HabitBlocker relies on Apple system services for features such as private iCloud syncing, Screen Time authorisation, widgets, Live Activities, notifications, and App Store distribution. Apple's handling of information is governed by your Apple Account settings and Apple's privacy policies. HabitBlocker does not use third-party analytics, advertising, crash-reporting, or tracking services.

Data Retention and Deletion

Local information remains on your device while HabitBlocker is installed. Deleting the app removes its locally stored data; offloading the app may retain its documents and data. If private iCloud syncing has been used, synced records may remain in your iCloud account so they can be restored or used on another device.

You can turn off HabitBlocker's iCloud access or manage its stored iCloud data from your device's iCloud settings. Because we do not operate an account system and cannot access your local or private iCloud records, we cannot view or delete that information on your behalf.

Data Sharing

We do not sell your information or share it with advertisers, data brokers, or other third parties. Private iCloud syncing is provided by Apple under your iCloud settings, and user-initiated exports are shared only with the destination you choose.

Children's Privacy

HabitBlocker uses the individual authorisation mode of Apple's Screen Time API and is intended for personal self-improvement. It is not designed as a parental-control or child-monitoring service. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children.

Changes to This Policy

If we update this privacy policy, the changes will be posted on this page and the "Last updated" date will be revised.
